How to Run an Aethir Node?

Community

Aethir’s decentralized cloud infrastructure is based on three critical components in its day-to-day operations: Indexers, Checkers, and Containers. By purchasing an Aethir node, investors are buying Checker nodes, which ensure the daily operations of Aethir’s decentralized cloud infrastructure.

Indexers match consumers with suitable Containers, which are the actual service providers that streamline a steady flow of computing power to end-users. Checkers are essential for the smooth functioning of Aethir’s services. Checker nodes ensure the integrity and performance of Containers within the Aethir network.

Checker Node Licenses

After buying an Aethir node, you will receive a checker node license as an NFT directly to your crypto wallet three weeks after the node sale. There’s no NFT claiming process because Aethir will airdrop the licenses to all buyer wallet addresses. Each NFT proves your ownership over an Aethir node, and you’ll receive one for each purchased node.

These licenses are non-transferable during the first year after the Aethir node sale on 20 March 2024. After the one-year period expires, node owners will be able to freely trade their node license NFTs on secondary markets.

Since Aetir is dedicated to decentralized blockchain mechanics, anyone can operate an Aethir node once they acquire a license.

Setting up Your Aethir Node

Setting up your Aethir node is super easy. You don’t need extensive technical knowledge to do it. When the mainnet goes live, node owners will just need to download and install the Checker node client software from Aethir. The client will support Windows, Mac OS, Linux, and Android operating systems.

Aethir will also launch an easy-to-use command line interface (CLI) for a convenient node operator experience.

Once launched, operators just need to keep their nodes operational and reap the benefits. As for technical requirements, even low-end hardware devices can support running a node.

These are the minimal technical requirements for running an Aethir node:

64MB RAM

1 X86 CPU Cores@2.1GHz

10 GB Disk Space

10Mbps Internet Connection

Alternatively, operators can deploy nodes on a VPS or through a nodes-as-a-service provider, and they can run up to 100 nodes on a single server.

Checker Node Operator Rewards

Checker nodes are vital to the successful operation of Aethir’s decentralized cloud infrastructure. That’s why node operators receive rewards in the form of $ATH tokens. ATH is Aethir’s upcoming utility token. ATH is an ERC-20 token on the Arbitrum network.

During the next four years, node operators will have the opportunity to earn 10% of the total ATH supply. Another 5% of the supply is reserved for bonus rewards for node operators who meet special requirements. Quarterly assessments, including uptime, no early withdrawals, and other criteria, will be evaluated to check for eligibility for bonus rewards.

Furthermore, as a token of appreciation for our early adopters, all nodes in Aethir’s initial node sale will receive bonus rewards for the first 6 months.
